serving generations of learners, teachers, and researchers with rich print collections,
rare archives, special studies, and expanding digital resources.

University Library

The Kerala University Library, located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city near the University's Senate House campus, is the oldest and most comprehensive university library in the state. The library houses an extensive collection of documents, including books, archived magazines and newspapers, theses, E-books, e-journals, databases, and other resources. Renowned for its extensive collection of back volumes of social science periodicals, it is recognised as one of the premier research centres in South India.

Campus Library

The Campus Library is situated at the Kariavattom campus. It was started in 1976 mainly to extend the library facilities to the campus community. It was envisaged as a reference collection, initially stocking important reference books and textbooks prescribed for various courses, as well as materials useful for research scholars, with a view to supplementing the departments' library resources. The selection, ordering, and technical processing of the documents are carried out independently by the library, and it has its own budget allocation. Still, it remains a reference library for students, researchers, and teachers at our University. In addition to the reference facility, the library provides reprographic, internet and E-Resources services. It has a collection of over 35000 books and subscribes to over 60 periodicals.

Department Libraries

All the University's teaching departments and centres have their own independent libraries. The University has 53 such libraries. They are scattered across two major campuses: the Karivattom Campus and the Senate House Campus. The Department of Library and Information Science is located in the Kerala University Library Building, and the Department of Music is near the Government Women's College campus in Vazhuthacaud. The departmental libraries operate under the direction of the respective department heads.
